Avon Skin so soft body oil. They make a spray especially for bug repellant but I still like the regular bath oil.

I use Skin-So-Soft by Avon. Nothing tries to get to me when I have that on. I can walk right up to a bunch of bees hovering around my plants and they don't bother me. It is amazing.
Deep Woods is also a good repellent. A friend told me that Vanilla is also a good repellent.
Just your choice, I suppose. There are a lot of them out there that are very god. I just have a large bottle of Skin-So-Soft, that has lasted me a long, long time and since it works so well, I have stuck with that one.
For actually killing annoying insects, I use the Sevin spray which has a long straight spray to it and doesn't splatter spray everywhere. I use this inside to kill unwanted insects and outside to protect my plants.
Good luck.

hey there... a lil answer from canada... that good old muskol does the trick... 98% deet and just about the same strenght as the military stuff we use up here. But you have to be carefull to not get it in your mouth or around cuts and your eyes. And make sure you take a shower after you get back inside to take off that stuff. Also works magic on window or patio screens, keeps any bugs away...

On plants or on your body? A quick natural one is "nicotine tea". Soak ciggie butts in water then spray the brown liquid on your plant. Ciggie butts are gettin' harder to find these days...I guess you gotta locate a smokin' friend or relative & ask them to collect for you.

Vanilla. No chemicals and the skeeters and gnats hate it.
