Well, my granddaughter is 4 and only weighs 36 pounds so 52 sounds kind of big to me. My granddaughter is tall too and she's maybe a bit on the thinner side but she's not skinny. Every child is different and as long as she is eating healthy foods in a portion that is normal for a small child, then she just may be a big child.

Wow, I would tell you daughter to take your grandaughter to a new pediatrcian. My daughter is 4 & weighs between 29 & 32 pounds depending on the day. 52 pounds at 3 I believe would be considered obiese. I am looking at my daugters growth chart, for a 3 year old the weight doesn't even go that high. It could be the result of a thyroid disorder or even childhood diabetes.

It really depends on how tall she is.But based on average 3 yr heights that I know, She does sound a little chunky.Just try to have more play time in the yard or at the park. She'll probably grow out of it as she gets older.I was fat my whole life until about 11 then I just started getting taller and losing weight.

My 4 year old weight is 42 lbs and that is average for his age, and my 6 year old daughter weight is 42 lbs also ,,,i would say your granddaughter is over weight, but how tall is she?? That could play into the whole weight thing...

It sounds a bit too heavy for a 3 year old. How tall is she? What range did the dr say she was in? If you are concerned talk to your daughter about maybe seeing anohter dr. Remember it is your daughters choice who she takes her child to.

Well now doctors check the height of the baby and compare it to the weight. If your doctor says it's ok then it might be.You should get a second opinion from another doctor.

my son is 3 and he weighs 37pounds he is not skinny or fat he is just right. 52 pounds at 3 is fat and i seriously doubt she could be tall enough to pull it off.My 7 year old weighs 48 pounds.

Yes, that sounds to be a perfectly normal weight for that age range. As long as she is eating healthy and living an active lifestyle for her age, everything should be on the up and up.

that is a lot... I would ask for a thyroid test. maybe there is a medical problem behind this. ... Normal three year olds weight significantly less like 30 pounds... ( mine weights 30) I think that is a lot... You apparently think so also.... I would find a new peditrician... there could be a medical problem here....
