Get two transparent cylinders, one inside the other, both centred on the same axis. Fill the space between them with a viscous liquid like glycerine. Get a hypodermic syringe andfill it with a dye like potassium permanganate solution. Insert it into the glycerine and carefully withdraw it while squirting out the dye, so there's a line of dye parallel to the axes of the cylinders. If you rotate one cylinder relative to the other the dye appears to be mixed throughout the glycerine irreversibly, but if you rotate the cylinders back to their original positions, the dye will unmix and you'll get the line of dye back again. If you're clever you may be able to write words with the dye and use this method to hide them.
