They both are terrible. Bring back In Living Color or the old school SNL.

Sean, you ask cool questions. MadTV is funnier than SNL now, and to me, the reason is simple: 1) they have a cheaper budget. Funny just doesn't work as well when you can afford everything you need for a scene and don't have to be creative. MadTV has a much lower production budget than SNL. Plus, they're a smaller outfit and haven't had a huge breakout star yet the way SNL has, and Daily Show at Busboy is starting to have. The comics on MadTV are there primarily to be funny; I suspect most comics who audition for SNL, and especially those who get the gig, are there with visions of Aykroyd and Belushi dancing in their heads. That acquisitiveness comes across clearly on camera: this is why SNL doesn't make you laugh. You can feel that the comedians are using every sketch and especially every repeat character as an audition for movie studios. It's sickening and so unfunny. I grew up on the original Not Ready For Prime Time Players and can't bear to watch this show anymore. Lorne needs to throw one huge goodbye party, end the show, and clean 30 Rock out for good. The dream is over. PS, since the cheaper the show the funnier it is, I bet there's some funny-*ss sh*t out on YouTube from somebody's Public Access channel somewhere. I'm planning on using Public Access and uploading to YouTube in 2007. It offers complete creative freedom and you can use the infamous "seven words". Last point here: how can you joke about the war in Iraq when GE is your boss, and GE is one of the companies profiting off the war? GE owns NBC. SNL is caught in a web of creative restraints. They need to hang it up. Just my humble opinion.

I enjoy different skits of both shows more than others. But I like SNL better. I just like the cast, I think they are funnier, although if the guy who plays Rusty and Stuart were on SNL, it would definitely be SNL.
It's kind of hard to choose, sometimes one is funnier than the other. It would be awesome if they collaborated for one night, it would probably go down in history and be the most hilarious hour and a half in television.

MadTV vs the SNL now. MadTV, in my book. Because the plot lines are written better, funnier, the cast is more talented than SNL. They seem alomst desperate, they just aren't funny!

It honestly depends on the cast. My taste switches back and forth. Right now I love the SNL cast, but you never know when they will lose their good ones and bring in some people who aren't quite ready for the big time. MadTV on the other hand has good bits, Stewart and Miss Swan, and the office manager who calls people sneaky snakes (also done my McDonald-guys who does stewart). Plus I love Bobby Lee and Ike Barinholz.

SNL by far! I love the cast. I also like MadTv, but they are more of the mainstream parody type. SNL is witty & smart.

SNL because it's been around for 31 years and still makes people laugh.
MadTV..or BadTV as I call it, is kind of aimed toward the ignorant, or Southern people...and isn't funny to normal folk.
Just my opinion.

MAD TV is just a sad attempt at ripping off SNL.
