Basic Rules Of Rugby

Basic rules:

There are two major styles: rugby union (more popular), and rugby league

-You can't forward pass to your teammate, always backwards

- A try is 5 points. A try is like a touchdown, but you have to put the ball down to touch the endzone.

- Extra points are 2 points.

- A drop goal is like a field goal, but the player must spike the ball on the ground before kicking it. The only exceptions are when the referee calls a foul and penalty kick, then they can kick it from the ground.

- The scrum, is how the game is re-started to see who gains posession

League or Union?

They have different rules.

But the basics are the same .... get the ball from one end to another by running with it, passing it BACKWARDS or kicking and chasing to recover it.

Cross the line AND TOUCH THE BALL DOWN to score a try.
