of violence if Saddam Hussein is found guilty. Would/could any other sentence be tolerated other than a death sentence for Saddam Hussein?

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq canceled leave Friday for all military officers two days before an expected verdict — and possible death sentence — in the trial of Saddam Hussein. For the second time this week, a top Bush administration official huddled with the Iraqi prime minister.

Many of Saddam's fellow Sunni Arabs, along with some Shiites and Kurds, are predicting a firestorm of violence if the court sentences the ex-president to death, as is widely expected. Bloodshed is already high, with police finding the bodies of 87 torture victims throughout the capital between 6 a.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Friday.

But most Shiites, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, are likely to be enraged if he escapes the gallows. Al-Maliki declared last month he expected "this criminal tyrant will be executed".

I think it would help stop some of the violence in Iraq. I believe all the Sunni Insurgents are still loyal to Saddam out of fear, I think they believe he still might regain power. When he is dead, hopefully they will see there is nothing to be afraid of anymore.

Its simple "listen to what I say very carefully and write this day down" He will file for appeal he will go back to trial some time after the Presedential Elections. He will then be "Freed"..You see for the people who really think that he will be sent to Death. Understand this, he is no ordinary man This is Saddam Hussein and Yes he does have connections with some the most powerful people in the U.S. and Other Areas. People like this dont die their too rich and most importantly, they hold too many secrets that can bring other important people down.

This man should be made to face his due punishment regardless of any outside pressure ,,,,Get it done and make it a public affair to show his would be followers what they would face if captured ,,,,, I don't think there will be any repercussions anyway where what that man did and what he did to his own people is considered ,,,, The biggest percentage of the people he ruled over hate him anyway ,,,, Any death where he is concerned would be too fast ,,,, They should literally torcher this man to death ,,,, Take as long as they can to kill him ,,,,, Even that's too good for what he's done ,,,,, Hitler should have had to face the same punishment ,,,,, They are one in the same ,,,, They must have come from the same gene pool or something ,,,,,

I wouldn't really be concerned about an outbreak of violence from a guilty conviction for Sadam. My nephew just came home from Iraq and no matter what that stupid media says...they are slowly but surely sending the guys and ladies back. Media is full of it.

Yes they should. For this reason I believe Saddam should be executed. In fact, I think the first soldier into the spider hole should have done the deed back when he was first captured. Imagine how much trouble that would have saved.
