If you buy a new laptop hard drive often you will have to take the old hard drive ribbon or whatever it's called off and place it on the new one but if you don't have the old connector/ribbon where can you buy a new one?

Try contacting the manufacturer of your laptop. They may even had them for sale on their website.

Typically the drive adapter is proprietary to the manufacturer and not a readily available part. Check Ebay for one. Also, you can get adapters (http://www.logicsupply.com) that will allow you to connect a laptop drive to a desktop system if you need to recover data from the drive.

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
