The only makeup that covers really well is usually oil based. But I found that Cover Girl is pretty good. It is water based, but the coverage is good and it doesn't make me break out. It's also hypoallergenic.

Merle Norman full coverage in the black tube.
If you can't get this and you want to improve the coverage of another foundation that may be lighter, use clinique doublewear pressed powder, it is fabulous.
If you have a bump or dark circles, and need to cover these instead of using heavy foundation the best concealers I have found are perscriptives in the tube with a yellow base and Mary Kay full coverage concealer in beige.
Both of these are excellent high pigmentation concealers that cover bumps and are non-comedegenic (non pore clogging).
Always look for noncomedengenic lablels for that.
The thickness is not as important in foundation as the amount of pigment. Generally the higher price stuff has better pigment.
Good luck!

Well i use Maybelline's pure makeup. works great fopr any skin type.
the pure foundation is 50% wtaerbased and oil free. wont clog pores. and it wont cause breakouts. has long lasting coverage. has vitE, alow, chamomile to soothe skin. its sooo skin friendly. i LOVE this product. my classmates and shcoolmates have commented me and siad i look blooming. :) its a gel/liquid foundation by the way. full coverage and you can ask a saleslady at the department store to help you find a shade that matches your skintone.
after you apply the foundation, you can use the pure concealer to cover those scars or whatever. but the foundation can give good coverage already. but to be sure about the coverage, use the concealer also.
after concealing, touch up with the pure powder. that also includes aloe, chamomile, and vitE to soothe skin. just pat lightly onto your face. whenever you need to retouch, just use the powder. no need to apply foundation again and again. i love maybelline's puremakeup!!!!

I currently use Laura Mercier Flawless Silk Creme Foundation. I have rosacea and it covers this nicely. If I want to "glow" I use less. Lancome's Renergie Lift Foundation is wonderful. It has the same coverage. I just happen to be using Laura Mercier at this time.
Try Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation or her powder foundation. But, if by chance you have any dry spots, the powder will expose the dry flakes.

I like the MaryKay makeup that comes in a tube. It's a little thick, but really covers well with no pore clogging. I have very red, ruddy, fair skin and it covers the redness great! I am not a MaryKay sales person either, I just really like the products.

I use Maxwell or Cover girl and it works just fine for me. I choose the compact that has sponge.
Best thing to do for clogging pores, is, clean real good when you wash it.
Use good cleanser, towel dry, use toner with cotton to gently whip your face. moisturize.
Deep cleansing one week with cold cream. Get rid of dead skin another week with apricot scrub.
Choose one day a week for a no makeup for your skin to breath.
Vitamin C will help your skin glow.

Bare minerals it's a bit more expincive but it's so good that you can sleep in it not that i do but it very light (i don't mean color i mean you can't feel it) and it wont rub off on clothing. it's powder and it works like magic! it make your pores appear smaller and takes away oily skin, and gives your whole face that same clear look we all know and love!

Bare Minerals is the best. Buy the kit. Its so much cheaper than buying each item individually. It covers really well and looks so natural. I highly recommend this product.
