You probably dont have the incoming/outgoing receiver codes set up, the POP codes and such...If you call CIngular, they will give them to you, and you can text away :)

I had a problem kinda similar with my phone. They offered me this plan for like 500 text messages free for a month. I thought it was pretty cool but when I told them I didn't want to keep it, I couldn't text at all anymore. I would call your local Cingular store and see what's up.

It could be your phone. Even if you don't have a text plan, you should still be able to text. It will cost you 10 cent if you don't have a text plan. It's possible that your phone can't make text messages. If your not sure, go to a cingular store and have them check the phone. They will able to tell you if your phone can text or not.

I have Cingular too and in order to text message you have to have Pay-Per-Text enabled on your plan, your phone can't send or recieve messages. I believe its $0.50 per text. You have to call Cingular or log online to your account to turn on the pay-per-text option. Hope I could help.
