I have Linksys WRT54G Wireless router. My internet, when i first got it was very fast, i could download songs in less than 15 seconds. Now, it takes 45 seconds to load a web page. I've scanned for viruses and spyware with multiply programs e.g. AVG, Norton, McAfee, Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Websweep and more!. Does anybody have any suggestions how to make it go fast again? it would be much appreciated!

Gosh a whole 30 seconds...you obviously didn't grow up with 14.4k dialup! :-)

You mention you have run multiple programs...such as Nortons and AVG and McAfee...are you running all 3 antivirus as this alone will slow up and cause system conflicts.

Have you run a ADSL speed test?

Is your system throughly maintained?

Start with the basic maintainence on your system before downloading third party software.

this simple guide will assit you

http://www.pctechguide.com/tutorials/hdd...

Make sure your windows updates are uptodate, and also your
anti-virus is updated and run a full scan of your system.

Tune up your start up files (faster loading system)
Go to Start>Run and in the Run dialog box type in 'msconfig' and hit Enter.
System Configuration Utility will pop up choose the Startup tab.

Click on that tab and you will see the list of what runs at startup.
Use this site to determine whats safe to uncheck

type in search box exactly how it appears in msconfig start up

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php.....

and keep it on your favorites for future ref as when you install new software and downloads check msconfig again to make sure no more items have been added to start up.

Have you secured your wireless network?

If you already own a Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS and haven't enabled security (shame on you), the new software makes it much easier and less problematic to do so. The Linksys Web site has firmware upgrades available for routers For legacy routers, the firmware update adds a "soft" button in the router's management interface that simulates the front-panel pushbutton on the new routers.

You may need to update router firmware...and reconnect via the web interface for your router - visit the Linksys website

Are others sharing your network?...
If they are downloading it will have an affect on your speed.

As you can see it may be one thing or a multitude of things slowing your connection...hope its been some help.

Good Luck

First, the things that will cost you only your time:
1. Do a thorougher clean up of your system. That is, clean your Cache, delete Internet files, cookies and history; then do a check disc and a defrag. Restart you computer and see if there is an improvement.
2. Go to add/delete programs and see what programs you have in there that they just take space for nothing and remove them.

3. Check your photo and music files and if you have too much on your hard drive, move them to an external drive or elsewhere.

4. If you are still experiencing slowness, call you cable/DSL ISP and have them check your connection with them.

Good luck

PS: last but not least, go to Tuneup Utilities site and download their free trial program and use it to clean up your registry automatically, among other useful maintenance tasks.

Uninstall programs you haven't used in a while.

Backup onto CD files you need (movies, music), but haven't used in a while. Then delete them.

Update your scanning programs - if they're more than a year old, the subscription may have run out. If so, check out AVG, Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-aware. (Google the names)

Defrag your computer.

If you've recently upgraded to IE7, that could be it!
Grab Firefox to see if it's Internet Explorer that's slowed everything.

Firefox...

Free, fast, a small 5mb download, Firefox blocks pop-ups and sites from secretly installing programs on your computer. It will copy over your settings from other browsers (cookies, settings, bookmarks). Firefox is powerful too, it's more up-to-date than even IE7 according to the web standards (w3.org).

The main reason I like Firefox is because it's customizable.

Why is customizability important?

Imagine being able to do 2 small things and never seeing a banner ad, flash ad or an iframe ad again? (Remember, pop-ups are already gone)
Imagine being able to pause your computer's music player when the phone rings without having to switch to it?

Firefox puts the power back in your hands!

An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

I had the same problem. You need to pull the power out of the router then plug the wire back in. Don't press the reset or the front button. Just pull the power then plug it back in. It seem to work for me.

You could also try resetting your router by unplugging it for a couple of minutes. I have to occasionally do that with my Linksys router, and once it has been done, it is fast as ever.

Maybe you saved WAY too many files on your hard drive. have you saved any large files lately? if so its best to clear them and that might help.
