In minicomputer O/S the no of procceses in one second is far much lower than that of a main frame. mainframes can operate in terms of tera bytes while minicomputers operate in terms of up to gigabits.
its like comparing win vista and win 3.0 you can't run win 3.0 on a pentium 4 3.1 ghz it will be degrading your pc!

Typically speaking your desktop operating system is designed for a computer with not more than a couple CPUs and a pretty interface to get things done. A mainframe will have an operating system that can take advantage of multiple computers linked together with a high speed interface (fiber optics or Gigabit ethernet). There usually isn't a pretty interface to go with it either. Simply processing power.

in mini computer the opareting system(os) are made for user, that means this are user friendly- takes low space,use low cpu etc.
in main frame also name as workstation oparting system are also same but they are equipped with special fetuers as server settings,hostings etc.
