Yesterday I used an ATM twice. I checked my online banking page last night and both of the transactions appeared and were reflected in my balance. Now I just checked my online banking page again and those two transactions have completely disappeared and my balance is bigger... as though the withdrawals never happened.

Why is this? This has never happened to me before. I'm not gonna call my bank and ask them... just in case I actually got that lucky. But I'm sure not counting my chickens because this seems really strange.

Can anyone explain this to me?

P.S. I also contacted my tele-banking on the phone to see if it was different. But nope. Same thing.

I wouldn't think it was strange if they just didn't appear yet. That's pretty common. But I thought it was strange that they appeared and then disappeared.

Oh, also... this was not through a merchant. They were ATM withdrawals. Is that considered a merchant?

Because the bank memo posts all transactions. That is why you saw your transactions at first but they went away. They will definitely come back--you can bet on it. What is happening is the bank is waiting for the merchant to send through the complete transaction slip to debit your account That can take anywhere from one day to six months....depending on the merchant. Do not take the funds out. Always go by the balance in your checkbook...it is the most accurate you can have.

Sometimes banks have to restore a prior day opening balance and re-post one or two days of transactions (because of a corrupted transaction file). It will catch up in a day or two.

Give it a few days, it will probably come back.

Cause someone deleted it or the computer had a glitsch.
