Do you feel like you're the only one that is looking sometimes, and that many of the people around you are satisfied with their lot? (I guess this is a loaded question). Thanks for you input.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

How much meaning would like your life to have? Simple as that! How do you find it? Well, you just asked the question and in that question is the answer. I am not trying to sound clever here but by asking the question you have already taken the first step and the way ahead opens before you.
My advice (if you want more). Meditate. Calm the mind for as the mind calms it is able to comprehend that which is obscured by too many thoughts, stress and the general detritus of trying to solve a puzzle that seems to have no answer.

Now I'm not going to preach to you and I'm not a know it all christian but here goes. Is there meaning to life? I feel that God gave me the gift of life on earth and then He gave me the second most important gift and that was free will to do what ever I wanted with that life, Some people make a shamble of their life with drugs and alcohol and waste a pefectly good portion of their life if not all of it. Some people go through life as profound underachievers because they choose to do little with their potential. Their life is half wasted their lives by doing half of what they could, or can. These people are always half depressed because they know they could have done so much more. God leaves it up to us to do as little or as much with our lives as we want. Can you imagine what it would be like if God dictated what each of us were to do in life, or what our meaning in life was to be. Life is what you make out of it and that is your meaning to life. God gives some gifts to some people and some gifts to others. We have to recognise what our gifts are and plan accordingly. At 5'4' a person may not have the gift to be an nba player but he could be a great sports writer if that's where his talent lay. Without some kind of spiritual life finding out the meaning of life is very difficult. The great Bhuda tried many different ways to find the meaning of life, Find a short book of his life and look at what he went thru to answer this heavy question.

A self-reflection on your part would do you good. If you are unsatisfied with how your life is going at present, do something about it.
