have the fuel injection remapped and get a aftermarket exhaust. tThis is the cheapest thing to do. You can also get a sprocket with more teeth for a speed increase. I had a CBR 900 RR and did these things to it.

Do a smooth up job on the Intake and Exhaust Manifolds, Known are Porting. It takes work, but provides for much better flow and increases HP>

Buy a power commander. It gives you peak HP at every 1000 RPM. But for something a little cheaper get a K&N intake and aftermarket exaust.
