Whats the point in having an ego?

And why do we have them, seriously whats nature's purpose in this?
It cant be attraction because most women think a big egotist is a turn off. So why do we specifically have this trait?

Perhaps,

it allows you to cover who you really are because someone in your background led you to believe it wasn't good enough,

it allows you to be strong when you feel weak,

it allows you to be silent when you want to scream at someone,

it allows you to speak up nicely when you want to blast someone.

You know what is real, and sometimes you pretend by using an ego that you learned ....sometimes to survivie....like a business savy ego....an ego...around the opposite sex....etc.

I assume you mean ' ego ' in the non psychoanalytical way. Do a thought experiment; for the next day do not think yourself differentiated from any other organism, rather think of yourself as a social insect. Our evolutionary history obviously was" written" by creatures that had differentiated themselves. It was the part of the overall strategy they used to increase their fitness. What works in one instance for one organism may not work in another instance for a different organism. This means families of organisms. Time, environment and selection pressure, plus the blau plan of the organism all work to " write " it's evolutionary history.

ego is inbuilt in ur body mechanism.This is a beautiful tool given by nature to satisfy urself.It may be channalised to do miracles.when it crosses its permitted limit it become disasterous.
