Would have to say it is the time spent enjoying the fruits of our labours, be it family & friends, or those things for which we have worked (career-wise). Or even taking pleasure in those things which fall our way seemingly by fortune or chance.

It goes to shakespeare " To be or not to Be" and there should not be any question. For the good life is what you make of it. To be free in mind, body, soul, spirit, to make your choices freely with a good will. Building a character around yourself that is pleasing to others and surrounding yourself with pleasant people and things as much as you can, whether it is family, friends, bus. assoc. etc., A pleasantry found in a smile is a good life. When you walk into a room and people are glad to see you. When at Christmas you have a gift for someone and they open it and smile and say thank you, it makes you feel warm all over, you have just exchanged love in a glance. When you can end arguments simply without a battle. When you have reached your goals to an achievement you have been working on and it is accepted. As in a passing grade in school, or a job you were just accepted for. All of these things seem simple, but that is just it. The Simple Life is the Good Life.

Happiness. Recognizing it as it occurs.

Contentment. Wanting what you have.

Freedom from strife.

Joy.

Delight in the everyday things: the sky; unexpected laughter; hard work, well done; difficult ideas, finally figured out; a new idea; making love; the hypnotic sight, sound, and scent of a fresh wood fire on a cold night; good conversation; fresh hot coffee (SMELLs so good!); the smiles of strangers; good music; a hot shower and warm soup when you are freezing; bliss in your lover's eyes; a new book by your favorite author; the warmth of sunlight; the soft brush of a cat's fur against one's leg; fresh, cool wind on one's face; the rustle of leaves in the wind, or the whisper or roar of a river; a lovely, soft bed after a a long day...

The good life is knowing in your heart that you nare going to have a healthy productive life on this earth and that when your time to die comes you will go to heaven to spend the rest of your spiritual life with God. Believing in God and just accepting his way of life will give you the peace and joy you need on this earth and in your next life. It really is easy and I'm trying hard to be that kind of person. I hop you can be that kind of person to.

Being self confident, trying new things, having a career that you enjoy and can change if you like,
being able to afford the necessities of life: food, shelter and clothing, and the comforts of life: travel, learn languages, learn to look inside and change if it suits your needs.

The good life is adding to your family and friends just by your entering a room.
