I want to find out if there's a way to get on casts lists and it's proving tricky! Any advice much appreciated!

Are you in the UK? Start with PCR - www.pcrnewsletter.com. The STAGE is also varied, all job in the back pages. Spotlight is the industry's casting resource (www.spotlight.com), and their publication CONTACTS is an excellent start--- contact fringe theatre companies and discover who is holding open auditions.
Also www.mandy.com is an often forgotten source. Always be weary of open calls if they sound at all dubious.

There is a publication called PCR that you can order. Also a book called CONTACTS which is published every year, the bible for the business. Every casting agent is listed and it might be worth sending your photo to them so they can put you on their books. Everyone else also has this book so competion is tough... good luck. An agent is the best, but it's a Catch 22 situiation as an agent will only take you on once they have seen your work. Lists of all agents are in CONTACTS too.

I would assume the magazine "Variety" would have loads in. Thats what all the thesps read.
Or an agent. You might need to be a member of the actors union Equity though to get even near the castings.

The best way for a new actor to find out about auditions is the same way an experienced actor finds out... through your agent.

It depends on what type of work you're seeking. Some cities have publications that list theatre audtions. You'd need an agent for commercial, television, and film work.

Have you trained?
If so, did your college/university not prepare you for work?
If you haven't, how likely is it you will get any?
You train for something as lowly as working the checkout at Wal-Mart (no disrespect intended) so why should acting be any different?
It is a bit harder than most jobs but almost every day someone asks here how they can be a movie star.
It's pathetic.

What city are you in?
Maybe there are actors here, from your city that will post that information for you. Ask actor friends if there are newspapers that post audition notices. Your acting teacher is a good resource for audition information.

ttry your local theatre where mot plays take place if you phone up they will send you a leaflet with loads of info in it
