A Gold Glove is given to a player from each position in each league for good defense and fielding. MVP is given to only one player from each league for being the best overall player for the season.

It's given to the best fielder for each position, including pitcher. It is selected by coaches and managers. It is a great honor as it is given by folks in the game. And the MVP is only given to a single player in each league and represents "Most Valuable Player" and most often is given to a hitter, occasionally to a pitcher but NEVER to someone who is simply an outstanding fielder - that's the Gold Glove.

It's SUPPOSED to be given to the best player in both leagues for each position. HOWEVER, Mike Lowell and Gonzo of the Red Sox got screwed out of theri awards. Gonzo had less errors then Pretty Boy of the Yankees. Look up the statistics. Enuf said!
