I would like to make a plaster mold of a hoofprint from a deer. There is quite a bit of soft mud, so the deer prints would be, I would guess, deep enough. How would I go about getting a mold so I could use plaster of paris to get a reproduction of it? Could anyone give me a link or instructions? Thanks in advance.

Buy a box of plaster of paris at the hardware store (or pay extra and buy it an art store). Pour it into the hoofprint. You may want to prepare the area ahead of time by covering it with a tarp in case it rains. you can mix some cloth mesh or gauze into it to strengthen it (like a cast).

ive done this i got a shoe box and cut the bottom out so that you have the four sides push into the soft groung around the print then fill with plaster of paris, the more plaster you mix in with the water the stronger the cast will be. Then when you remove the box you will have a good square mold. coat the reverse print with a little vasaline then using the box again place over mould and fill with plaster again wait to set and you should have a perfect mould.p.s make sure the surfaces are brushed down and free of debree too, it will give a better result.

This must really smell after sitting 6 months ? Place boiling water in it and shake well then empty it Refill with hot water and add a little bleach shake then let sit 10 minutes this will kill the mold then empty again wash with dish soap use a bottle brush if you have one rinse dry out and your flask should be safe to use again

Lay some saran wrap in the hoofprint in the mud. Pour the plaster in it. Cover with more saran wrap and let dry.
