Since more waking hours per week are spent in the workplace and around co-workers, do you now think of your workplace as "home" and co-workers as "family" ? Do you decorate your office/cubicle to resemble "home" with family photos and favorite trinkets etc? How much free time is spent socializing with co-workers as opposed to family and neighbors?

I work at home, so I can honestly say my workplace IS home and family.

When I was working outside the home it did indeed seem more like home than home was. I put in way too many hours. Home was my house where I cooked dinner for my children, washed and cleaned the kitchen, put the kids to bed, then fall into bed myself. I decorated my office with my children's school pictures. All of us decorated our offices for holidays, especially Christmas. We had occasional in office pot luck lunches. We exchanged Christmas gifts and had wonderful Christmas parties. So you can say that the working person that has to work outside the home has TWO homes and two families. Because you can't help but get attached to some of your co-workers just like sisters or brothers. I live in the city and knew my co-workers much better than I new my closest neighbors. Now that I am working from my home, I am getting to know a couple of people that live on my block.

Work is my life.....which I know....sounds sad.

I work over 50 yrs. a week.....so all my good friends are my co-workers. My office is homey...I have personal lamps....a large map on the wall with pins where I've been to. I have a fish tank....and pix of family and friends.

I have a few friends outside of work. I've been with the company 15 yrs....so I have to say....yes.....my workplace has become my home/family.

Photos have been placed over the worktable and in fact fair amount of the time goes in office. it can be taken that only for rest, one reaches home.
