I'm going to a function soon and I will be wearing a flowing, floor-length ballgown that is simply divine.
However, I don't want to wear basic black shoes. Are red shoes too dramatic?
Also, is it okay if the clutch matches the shoes or does it have to match the drerss?

Without seeing the gown it is difficult to give advice but here goes:

Strappy black fabric high heeled sandals should do very well. Make sure you get a pedicure first and give it plenty of time to dry before putting them on. It is not necessary for the clutch to exactly match the shoes if you are going with black, but if you have satin shoes, you should have a satin bag (beading is always a good option with black for a little sparkle).

Red sandals should be fine as well, in which case you would want to have a clutch that has some of the same red in it, and perhaps a shawl with red as well. With reds, however, it is important for formal functions that the reds are all in the same tone and very similar in color, if not exact. Another way to tie in the red would be with red crystal jewelry.

Silver would be your safest bet and make sure that you get a clutch to go with them, but unless you are daring or just want to do something different then go with a color that you normally would never try just to spice things up. Red shoes are not tooo dramatic.

Match your clutch to your red shoes.

Or wear gold sparkly shoes & carry a gold bag, wear gold jewelry.

Or wear silver shoes, bag & jewelry.

Are you wearing or carrying anything else that is red? It could be quite striking if carrying a red clutch purse and with a red flower or brooch, or hair ribbon, or the like. By themselves, I do not think it would work. You could also consider gold or silver high heel sandals.

Red shoes would look GREAT but make sure you have a red clutch with some rhinestones or beads to make it look more elegant. Your nails should be manicured and if possible, i would ask the nail person to put clear rhinestones on your nails.

I'm sure your gonna look AWSOME!!!

i would not wear red shoes. that can look really cheesy.

you can wear silver or gold shoes along with a bag that matches your shoes. your bag should match your shoes, not your dress, but should coordinate with your dress.

don't do white shoes with a black gown! no no no! not pretty.

With a black dress, a set of same colored (like red) accessories would be stunning. Red shoes, bag, belt, necklace etc . . .
