The Play: Cal & Stanford in the Big Game, 1982, IIRC.
Joe Starkey's raspy call of that play is a legend. There is a crushed trombone in the College Football hall of fame to commemorate it.
And it's just freakin' hilarious to watch...

Of course the last play of the Cal-Stanford game back in the '80s. The kickoff return was lateralled something like 7 times. The Stanford band had already run onto the field, thinking the game was over. The dude who ran the ball into the end zone knocked a tuba player on his @ss.
Classic.

I like the Kordell hail mary pass to Micheal Westbrook to beat Michigan in 1994, and of course The Stanford band on the field in 1982, but Id say the LSU/KENTUCKY game, I forget the year, but Kentucky had all ready dumped the gatorade on their coach celebrating a win, but right after that LSU completed a long pass for a TD and ended up winning the game.

There are only two answers to this question. They have already been said, I cant rank them in importance but they will both be in the collective memory of college football forever.

Kickoff return involving the Stanford band in 1982 when Cal beat Stanford on the kickoff return. Never been nothing like it before or since.
