I notice we've had a question on here already about whether we should have a black James Bond or not. Good for Karl for asking. I can't see a problem with it myself. It's not a specifically black or white part and, as we all know, Bond has changed heads several times already.

So, simple question, who should be the first black Bond?

To Hotdog. I think that's a bit of a steriotype. If a black actor is worth his salt he doesn't have to play a 'brother'. He could just be James Bond!

I'd rather the next Indiana Jones be black than an embarrassing pensioner.

It is a specifically white part though. Just like B. A. Barachus was a specifically black role (The A-Team, Mr. T). James Bond is a preexisting character that has been determined to be white. The rank or whatever the hell it is of 007 can be filled by someone of any race/ethnicity/color/gender but as long as Mr. Bond is 007 it should be a white actor. Unless the current Bond dies/quits and the replacement happens to be names James Bond as well and happens to be black... but that would just be a lame storyline.

So, simple answer, no-one should be the first black Bond because there shouldn't be a black Bond. The biggest change he has had would be his hair color changing a couple times which can be explained by a simple invention of hair dye, being a "secret" agent he should have access to disguise kits. However since just about everyone seems to recognize him on sight anyway, he isn't a good secret agent in the first place. He is more of a super-soldier that pretends to be a secret agent.

If James 007 Bond should be black next, i would pick Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer in 24 and from The Unit) very calm and cool actor, even though Bond would be a yank. If he passed on the role then it would have to be Wesley Snipes. If we are going that far why not have James Earl Jones as M.

James Bond is a fictional character, who is white... What if in the next Indiana Jones film, Indy is suddenly black?

James Bond should be played by Wesley Snipes. He can use the same line he used in that airplane movie Passenger 57.. "Always bet on black" at the roulette wheel. That would be classic. James Bond should be American also

I can not stand Bond films at all, but having a black Bond i don't see why not. Just not P-Diddy or what every you call him now, he too much up his own bum as it is. he thinks he owns the world now the way he go about, and him been the 1st black Bond would just make his head that little much bigger.

Will Smith.

He has an obvious sex appeal that is very undeniable in Bad Boys 1&2. He showed he has great style in the movie I, Robot and who could forget how he portrayed a handsome, young man just caught up in someone else's mess in Enemy of the State.

This is just an honest opinion from a straight male that doesn't waste time hating on a honestly good actor.

either of the following will do for me: denzel washington, although he is 50 something he still looks in great shape, jamie foxx, don cheadle, wesley snipes, tyrese gibson, cuba gooding jr, terrence howard (hustle and flow), the thing is though they are all american.

british-wise, i cannot think of any that would be good enough for the role sadly. it goes to show the sudden lack of black talent coming through the film industry from britain.

I think he would have to be english, so what about Lenny Henry?

This raises another question, why aren't there any really famous black english actors (household names like Denzil Washington and Samuel Jackson)

Lennie James who played "Sol" in "Snatch", and the bad guy dictator in "Sahara". He's British, a great actor, and he isn't well known in the States so he could really "own" the character the way Connery (or to a lesser extent Brosnan) did.
