Get some cats or set some traps. It's getting cold outside so the mice want to come in where it is nice and warm. I know I live in a farmhouse too!
Oh, and the majority of my cats are elderly and have gone on strike! I saw one of my cats and a mouse eating out of the same bowl at the same time!
That's when I knew I had to set some traps.

i had that same situation u should try going to home depot or somewhere and ask someone in some store like depot where there mouse items are and then try looking for a brown little i guess like a 3 by 3 inch brown box when u open it it should have these little green pebbles or cereal is what it looks like and just set the boxes around ur area like 9 or 10 feet apart from each other and it should work cause it has this sent and they eat it and then they become druged and then u kill them.

No, they'll go where ever they darn well please, and you cannot stop them unless you GET RID OF THEM!
And that means traps, poisons, and sealing up where they're getting in--once you find the spot(s), shove steel wool in there, they don't like chewing thru that.
I found mice in a bag of flour in a cabinet that I thought was "mouse proof". The flour was triple bagged in ziplocks and inside a SEALED Tupperware container. The mice chewed through the various plastic and..this is gross, there were at least 10 pink baby mice squirming around in the flour.
YUCK!

cats or rat dogs are probably the best deterent. you're never going to find a safe way to keep them off surfaces, the best thing is to try to keep them out of the house. and traps need constant unkeep. cats take care of themselves, for the most part. if you do get a cat or dog, make sure you remove any poison or spring traps from your house and yard. these can kill and injure pets as well as vermin.

check with www.doyourownpestcontrol.com
I caught 5 mice in two traps I bought from them for $25.00.
They love pet bird seeds.
So, I throw in some seeds every so often.
No more mice, for now.
