could be braxton hicks however keep in mind your baby is really starting to grow now so your uterus is expanding and if you have sharp pains here and there in your sides near your hips that is round ligaments stretching very common. see your doctor if pain is persistent and you need peace of mind don't stress out about it. that is not healthy for the baby. good luck and take care best wishes.

Best to call you doctor or the birthing unit at the hospital. Could be braxton hicks but you should clarify this with medical staff. If they have a concern from your description they would ask you to come in and likely do a non-stress test to make sure that baby is doing ok ....
So, don't sit there worrying call someone and get some medical advice.
Hope everything is ok.

I agree, you should call your doctor or the advice nurse, just to be safe. It sounds to me like something called "round ligiment pain" -- I had a little of this in the 5th month, and it's nothing to worry about. Still, be on the safe side and call the doctor. That's what they are there for, and no one will think you are panicing unnecessarily. Good luck!
Braxton Hicks contractions, or false labor contractions are usually painless.

Could be Braxton Hicks. Time them. If you are getting them less than 10 minutes apart, call your doctor.
And, calm down. Rest. Try to relax.

I would go to the hopsital, they will hook you up to a monitor. Women do this all the time... it turns out to be nothing and they are sent home... but since this is your 1st.. why take a chance? Good Luck.

CALL THE DOCTOR. YOU DON'T WANT TO MESS AROUND WITH HAVING PREMATURE LABOR. IF THATS WHAT IS IS THEY CAN STOP IT, SO YOUR BABY CAN STAY IN THE WOMB LONGER TO GROW STRONGER. YOU PAY YOUR DOCTOR, SO DONT EVER FEEL BAD ABOUT CALLING. ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU ARE DEALING WITH YOUR BABY!!!
