It took a while to find a food that our previous dog would always eat and my new dog is the same breed but is so fussy that we are having to coax him into eating even fresh cooked meat including chicken which was always gone in seconds with our last one

*laughing* It's mainly because they prefer nice food to dog food and are very very willful !

My Shi-Tzu Harry was very fussy about what he ate and even turned down dog chox and chicken. The best way I found to get him to eat was to transfer him onto dry dog food for a fortnight. I put fresh dry food in his bowl each day, replacing it even if he hadn't eaten it and gave him plenty of fresh water but did not give him any treats such as his dog biscuits or chews etc. I made a big show every time I filled the bowl saying how delicious it looked and pretending to eat a bit myself.

It was an intense battle of wills made even harder when he looked so hungrily at my cheese on toast that night but eventually, when he got hungry enough on the evening of day 2 he ate the dry food and I kept him on that for a fortnight. Dry food contains everything he needs to be healthy.

After a fortnight I gave him a little chicken one day from our Sunday roast, plus carrots, Brussels sprouts and peas and he wolfed the lot. He even took to occasionally eating raw carrots and apples, celery sticks and basically anything we put down [Guess dry food doesn't taste anywhere near as good as the real stuff!].

He lived to a ripe old age and basically ate dry dog food during the week with treats etc. at weekends.

It's kind of hard to stick to but if you don't want to have to be cooking three course meals for your pooch every night...and believe me they will get you to do it, then give this method a try

Good Luck [Ignore the big liquid Shi-Tzu eyes and stick to your guns...you can do it!]

Try FEEDING a FUSSY cat!
A lot of animals are fussy eaters and giving in to them actually makes them worse rather than better! Perseverence is needed here. A Complete Dry Food is the best thing as it contains everything a dog needs. Human foods are not always good for dogs and can even kill (Chocolate for one)
Stop all treats! Dont fall for the sad eyed look!
Just put food down in the morning and if he doesn't eat it change it the next day! He will eat it when he's hungry enough. Once he starts eating it, after a few days you can then start giving treats and introducing him to other foods!
Cooked meats dont have the proper nutrients for a dog unless some vegetables are added! Never potatoes as most dogs cant digest them properly!
Good luck.

Why don't use put a little bit of cottage chesse in his bowl. It's safe. You could also put dog gravy on it
