This is a tough problem. Once a cat has designated your garden area as their Olympic-sized litter box, it's hard to keep them out. There are little reflectors and things that merchants have for sale, but they never worked for our family. So I recommend the scare-the-crap out of 'em technique. Get one of those sound or motion activated Halloween accessories, or something similar and put it in the area that is being violated the most. If the cats get scared out of the garden enough times, they will stop wanting to use that area.

I am not sure why you want to keep them out. I have a vegetable garden every summer and my two Siamese go to the garden with me. They play, run and occasional will catch a mouse that has made a home under the hay mulch. They keep the rabbit out too.

We had that problem around our business. I got a live trap and trapped 15 cats over a 3 week period. Animal control came and picked them up. The other cats got the message and moved on to other places. There are places that rent live traps. Check your phone book.

most people dont know this, but before there was dog food, there were cats! that should be all the info you need. if for some insane reason, you dont want to get a dog, i could supply you with plans for a small caliber potato cannon. very effective.

i just read something about putting pine cones in potted plants to keep cats out. apparently they don't like the feel of them on their paws. So, I don't know how big your garden is, but you could try it.

can you imagine? when we moved here a few years ago our neighbor had over 30 cats! we had "presents" in every flower bed....we used moth balls, cayenne pepper, broken clay pots, pepper, nothing worked...we eventually got a trap from the humane society and trapped them and hauled them off to be euthenized....seems cruel i know, but having that many cats in a town enviroment is what is cruel...to the cats, as well as the neighbors.

You might try Fox urine, or moth balls.
I don't like cats in my garden or plant area because they are hiding to catch my birds.
I like cats but just don't want them to kill my birds.
