Starting next season in the NFL, each of the teams will be playing a game across seas in Europe. Aside from the fact that it ticks me off that our favorite teams will all be losing a home game each season (as I think it's going to work), I have another thought.....

I thought Europeans didn't LIKE American football?? They prefer what we call soccer or rugby? Would there really be a market for NFL football in Europe?

As long as I'm still be able to turn on my tv and watch the Bears play in another country I'll live with it. I guess I can see about testing the market to see about the revenue. But I have a hard time imagining it'll amount to anything close to the demand for the football game in America.

I think Europeans are a lot more open minded than American sports fans. There are a lot of sports in Europe already that are barely recognized in the US (like field-hockey and fencing)

I think the European would be open to American football if they can understand the (compared to soccer much more complicated) rules and the scoring sytem.

The main challenge is: WHAT WOULD YOU CALL IT? Over there, "football" is already taken by a sport, where you actually move the ball with your feet!

I thought they called it "gridiron," for the way the field is marked.
