You are a free person in the USA. You don't have to do any of the above. Be an atheist. Start your own church. I always wanted start one called the Church of the All Mighty Dollar and have "In God We Trust" over the door.

Throw your vote away on a third party. Don't vote at all. Toss a coin. Do whatever you want in these two areas.

You have your freedom to pick whatever religion you choose or you can choose not to pick one

You can choose not to vote or you can choose to vote for any other party you want or write in somebody.

On the other hand there are times you are asked to choose:

Census time - The census comes around every ten years and asks for religious preference. Why do they do that? I am not sure. I guess it is something to put in on the CIA World Factbook and gives our kids something to do social studies reports on.

The military also asks so if you die, or are about to,or need counseling they know who to call with respect to religion.

Some states do require you to pick your political party to vote for candidates in that party's primary election.

Who says you have to pick anything? It's your freedom as a US citizen to choose anything you want to, or even to choose nothing.

I think religion is pretty much your call including atheism and agnosticism. Unfortunately, when it comes to politics Dems and Reps have it sewn up. It's a money thing. If you're rich or willing to sell your soul to the rich you're good to go. If you're poor and ethical. Ha ha ha ha... you're powerless.

You don't have to, just sit back and do nothing. That will guarantee you are abducted into the Christian Republican camp.
