why do they call it 'practice'? does the therapist know what they are doing?

like the first person said. i agree with him. therapists know a lot, they go to school and yes they do in some degree practice on their patients but its how people learn.

I guess because they are "practicing" medicine. It means the more you do, the better you get, the more experience, the more wisdom.
As frightening as it is, most doctors learn the best lessons through trial and error.

Even though they went through all that higher education, they don't know every little tiny thing that is going to be thrown at them,
if they are a good doctor, they are flexible and keep learning through their "practice" of medicine.

Does anybody know what they are doing?
The call it a practice because the word is now synonmous with "practicing medicine" instead of performing medicine. What would you rather have - a practioner or a performer.
If you like you can think of them as professionals.

well,practice makes perfect,just wait untill they have practiced a lot,then go see them.

Every time they see a patient they are practising their skills. Maybe when they get it right they retire!
