The one where he says (falsely) that certain Republican politicians are opposing "science"that holds "promise" to cure diseases like Alzheimers and Parkinson's?

He even said that Talent (in Missouri) wanted to "criminalize the science" that would bring cures.

first of all, Talent is and has VOTED for stem cell research and supporting it.

What he HASN'T voted for is "embryonic" stem cell research, which has produced no cures.

They have been working and doing embryonic stem cell research for 13 years and spending billions of dollars on it.

In all that time, there have been ZERO breakthroughs. .

zero discoveries . .

The kind of stem cell research Talent and the other Republicans Fox is lying about HAVE voted for spending tax money on is "adult stem cell research"

which HAS brought dozens of cures. .

it has resulted in 72 different clinical cures, while Embryonic stem cell research has resulted in NONE!

he doesn't tell you that part.

He also doesn't tell you that NONE of this research (embryonic or adult stem cells is prohibited nor have his Republican opponents voted to make it illegal) . .

what they have voted against is spending YOUR and MY taxpayer dollars on it (the useless and worthless embryonic kind)

the TRUTH is, Democrats are lying to sick people. .

holding out a FALSE and misleading hope that a CURE is just around the corner, only months away, if ONLY we can kill babies and take their tissue to do experiments with.

well it is a LIE, and it doesn't work. They have spent 13 years and billions on it, with no success at all. . and all of the cloned animals die because the process is unstable and doesn't work.

False hope is not real hope. And he's also vilifying good people for not going along with Mengelian experimentation. As the Nazis said at Nuremberg, "we were only following orders".

you have a choice as to where the money is spent:

Embryonic stem cell research (which is ghastly, like that of Dr Mengele (Hitler's buddy who experimented on live people - cut them up, etc.)

or. .

adult stem cell research, which holds LOTS of promise. .

I guess we should keep searching the moon for cheese, too, cause we haven't been everywhere on the moon, haven't looked everywhere, so maybe there really IS cheese there and we won't know til we have searched everywhere.

Same thing with embryonic stem cell research. .
put your money behind the research which SHOWS promise.

By the way, for the person below who answered that I know nothing about Parkinson's, I guess that shows how much you know. My dad has struggled with Parkinson's for 10 years now, and undergone all kinds of operations and still takes all kinds of pills, and has good days and bad days like Fox. What he doesn't do is lie to people that a cure is right around the corner if we can only experiment on unborn babies. This is a lie that Fox has fallen for, sadly. He's blinded by his desperation, and these days, would probably think Dr Mengele's experiments were ok (Hitler's ghastly buddy who experimented on live people, cuttin off parts of their bodies, etc.). . this is not really any different from what cloning is (which is what embryonic stem cell research is a huge part of the push for).

I wasn't fooled.
It is unbelievable that the lie that embryonic stem cells are the secrets to all cures is running so rampant.
You are correct, there isn't any promising studies done with them...NONE.

And by reading the other answers, I can see why everyone is so fooled. First of all, there is a difference between embryonic stem cells, and adult stem cells. They are having much better luck with adult stem cells than embryonic.
Also, the answer above me says something about Michael J Fox faking it- now where in your question does say anything about him faking. People just repeat whatever they have been spoon-fed.

Well it takes more than few years to find cures or treatments with such a advance technique. Argument is its potential out weighs all that time/money investment. Stem cells havn't brought 'cures' in any area yet. Results probably have been seen in many areas, but clinical trials and publication on studies don't count as 'cures.' Fox may be misleading, but you're just as misled about it. Far right wing commentary isn't good source for scientifc subjects either.

Thank you Amy for saying what I was noticing. A lot of people glibly say they are for stem cell research without knowing much about it. Just some cool science thing they have heard something about. Private money is going everything in stem cell research except embryonic stem cell. The ones pushing the amendment are the ones who are in a position to multiply their 28 million dollar investment many times over taken from taxpayers.

MJ Fox was misinformed, uninformed, or is lying. Also he is backing candidates who have voted against what he claims to be wanting. Now what kind of stupid is that?

Even if he were acting, he gets the point across that stem cell research needs to be passed to find a cure for Parkinsons. I don't see what people are making all the fuss about. And Rush Limbaugh should keep his mouth shut.

It really hasn't swayed my vote either way.I personally can't for the life of me understand why taxpayers have to pay for cures.Pharmaceutical companies would most likely lobby against anything that cures and puts them out of business.Don't tell me that they are the heroes. I'm not voting for MJ Fox anyway. What 72 cures? Where's your link?

You can't honestly say he's lying unless you yourself know the whole truth. If you had a disease and someone had the possibility of a cure, what would you do? You'd fight everyway possible to get that cure.
