...are we alone in the universe is an excellent question...if u look up fermi's equation etc and follow all the different links and pages and opinions, u will see that it is a question that has had the scientific community and people with massive IQ's scratching their heads for a some time.
..I'm not going to go into all the details but I will say that all the sand on earths beaches represent all the stars in the universe...roughly...no it would be absolutely naive of us to think there is no one or nothing else out there that has any sufficient intelligence...now the scifi movies are just entertainment...the only one with any truth behind it is Contact which had the input of scientists etc, but they still got things wrong...
It's not a billion dollar question - it more than that...the famous saying go along the lines of...where are they...and why haven't we been contacted...now while staying away from conspiracy theories & unless a big thing lands on my lawn...how most people able to know what is out there apart from what we see and hear in the news...obviously it's much better with the expansion of the net...
...where are they? - the fact that we haven't been contacted does not mean we are alone...
here's a great quote that fits well with this topic:
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
- German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer (1788 - 1860)
...same as the airplane, gunpowder, drilling for oil!, computers(that famous quote saying there's a worldwide market for a few computers)...and numerous scientific theories and discoveries...including one by the head erman scientist in WW2 saying that the nuclear bomb would not work for whatever reason beacuse there wasn't enough fissionable material in the world(from memory)-this from the greatest german mind iof the war!...so it's most likely peopel that say it can't be true will most likely be proven wrong at some stage...look at what we know compared to 2000 years ago...we would look like magicians to the peple of ancient times...as would our technology...how could they possibly detect our spacecraft from they houses?...so how would we locate anyone else without them wanting to be known...!?
Until truth is welcomed - even at the expense of notions held dear - a world is not ready. Otherwise the cost of engagement is too high, benefits too low, and outcomes too unpredictable - or worse - dangerous.
...just some things to consider...
One, and possibly the very best answer is "We aren't ready."

There is no one on Earth, neither myself nor anyone else, who knows (in the true sense of the word "know") the answer to this question.
However, to my knowledge, there has never been uncovered any solid evidence in support of "others" in the sense that you are talking about (whether aliens, ghosts, angels, etc.). If you research cases in which people claimed to have some such evidence, you can invariably find enough weakness in their stories to at least say they can't be taken as fact. Many people you talk to in the world say they have seen such evidence with their own eyes, but they never have any really concrete evidence either. There are psychological reasons why people believe these things. It's exciting, for one.
You might argue, "Well, you can't disprove the existence of.... ghosts, aliens, angels, etc." True. Neither can you disprove the existence of invisible flying pink elephants. But if there's never been any evidence that there are invisible flying pink elephants, why would anyone think they exist?
On the other hand, just because there is no logical reason for believing in something doesn't Necessarily mean it ought not be believed in. If everyone in the world only believed in what could be empirically proven, the world would not be nearly as interesting and dynamic a place as it is. Ultimately, you just have to make your own decision; seek out what is right for you in your own mind.
Suppose there are really no such "others" but you choose to believe it anyway. Sure, it seems better in general to have more true beliefs than false ones. But if this false belief can never be disproven, are you really at any loss? In fact, maybe the imaginative factor is a benefit. This is assuming the belief in others does not have other negative impact on your life or mind.

In terms of ones self, Yes we are alone. We alone control the path of our lives. External influences may have some bearing on us but ultimately the decisions lay with us. In terms of the universe, I believe that life spans across the universe and has flourished in many places other than this small planet. I also believe that for anyone to completely shut out the thought of life beyond our own would be the same as those who once believed the world was flat.

Here is my website of paranormal phenomenon. There are two clear photos of ufos which were invisible to the naked eye, but were clearly present.
We are not alone in this vast universe. There is so much diversity here on Earth that it stands to reason that diversity is spread throughout the universe.
I think if we could travel among the stars and visit other worlds; we would find that we are far from alone in this vast universe.

I think it would be arrogant to assume that we are alone and that they are not aware of our presence. I have seen some things and met some people of unknown origins. The Bible mentions certain people called watchers and the fallen. The CIA used what they referred to as psychic spying and remote viewing with this supernatural ability.Perhaps we are part of them and they are part of us. If not only just by being here watching us. Would you really be ready for the proof? Here's a few interesting sites to look at and wonder.

the catchy words..."I Believe" hah,,,but seriously i do believe something of some sort is "out" there. With the technology we have today, EVERY SINGLE DAY we find something new in space, let it be as simple as a star, or as complex as a new glaxaxy. With all of that space...billions and trillions and trillions of light years away from our little planet called earth, there has to be something else out there besides us. Just for a fact, one light year is how far light can travel in one year. Turn on a light really quick,,,wasnt that fast, imagine that going out for a year straight and times that by trillions and trillions and trillion of those years light travels in a year...crazy,, and really i cant believe but its true.

It is true you cannot always see what is in front of you however, the answer to your question is No we are Not Alone.
There are creatures that cannot be seen because they do not belong to this realm of existence but rather to the realm of the Spirit and sometimes men mistake them as aliens and angels and then sometime they are right. For God not only created this place but a whole Universe almost unending

There was a question just like yours on this site. I answered and quoted some proofs. My answer was chosen the best answer. Yahoo deleted the question. I don't know for what reason. So don't be surprised if they will do it again. Especially, when we mention this well known fact of the existence of aliens. Too controversial. Too thought provoking. You should realize by now, Yahoo doesn't want us to exercise our grey matters for too obvious a reason.

The more I realize and am shown how vast the universe is, potentially neverending, I can't imaging that life is only able to exist in our perfect solar system. Life may not exist close to us but I am sure it is out there somewhere.

If The Drake Equation holds true there should be life out there. I'd like to believe there's more out there than just us because is so that's sad.
