A couple months ago I went to the ob/gyn and she put me on BCP without giving me a pregnancy test first. We use condoms but that can't always be a guarentee. I started taking the pills and in a couple days I stopped because i had bad nausea (it was really low dose BCP) and vomiting. I ended up having 4 periods in the 2 months after I stopped taking them. Last month I sorta got back on track. In October my AF was really late and I have had bad cramping the last couple weeks. It rarely occurs and it seems to be if I wear low-rise jeans. They feel the same as when I had ovarian cysts (which I no longer have).
So here are my questions: I have had strange sinus drainage in one nostral for 2 weeks (the same amount of time I have been cramping). I have been really tired lately and could sleep all day if I was allowed. I do get nauseaus but that could be pseudo. I have read women in early pregnancy may get stuffed up but can it happen the other way? Its weird and hasn't happened before.Ideas?

One other thing-my "normal" period just after stopping BCP was horrible! I honestly thought I was having a miscarriage but all tests came back negative. I have an appointment next week w/ same doc so hopefully they can do further tests to make sure it isn't a tubal pregnancy. This sucks! Husband and I have been ttc for over a year!

One thing to add is that I have been very regular with 28 day cycles for atleast 10 years so I never thought there was a problem. I could be wrong and that is why I am going to the doctors this week. I just wonder if any woman has had sinus drainage during pregnancy. I am not sick in any other way. Usually if I get a runny nose I will start waking up with a sore throat and coughing but none of that....just my right nostral draining slightly. It's quite embarrassing when I bend down and my nose drips on my shirt or pants...hopefully nobody notices :)

I have been off BCP for over 2 months and only took 2 pills-doc said it didn't even get into my system. I have heard I could have had an allergic reaction to them tho. I am 27 with NO ovarian cysts and not on BCP. I did go for my check up in August and I bled during the exam but not after. She said "it can happen"...maybe I just need a different doc

sorry to write so much...I am not on any medication and the reason I started BCP is because I started school full-time to finish by next year and after unsuccessfully trying for over a year we gave up. It's sad I know but we couldn't handle the heartache so we said no more trying-we will wait until after school and leave it up to God. I didn't want BCP really but the doc was so convincing it would help....again I need a new doctor!

"You know, I can't answer all of your convoluted meanderings"...What?!? If you don't like my convoluted meanderings why would you reply? Women are extremely sensative when unsuccessfully ttc and people like you don't need to add your opinion if it isn't going to nice. Thanks however on letting me know about the new jean study....have you ever tried ttc over a year? Until you have don't say I am concolute or twisted (in case you don't know what it means)-its depressing.

your body goes "crazy" during pregnancy

birth control can do weird things to your body. So can cysts. I have really bad ovarian cysts and no longer have periods.... I'm only 29 and basically menopausal.

First, could your stuffy nose be a little cold, or allergies? It's more then likely. I haven't heard of runny nose coming from birth control or other things having to do with the reproductive system. Tiredness, insomnia, difficulty waking up in the morning... those can be caused by medications and cysts. Cysts mess up your hormones and end up causing all sorts of symptoms. Plus, it's common to get new cysts when you had them before.

If it doesn't get better after a little while you might want to call your doctor an ask her/his opinion. Never hurts to be sure.

You know, I can't answer all of your convoluted meanderings. Sounds like you really need another good gynecologist.
Want to comment on the low-rise jeans thing. May sound odd, but this was on Health News. Many women are having trouble with internal problems who wear low-rise jeans, so thank goodness the style is going back to regular Levi style jeans! Too many young girls have had such trouble!
Hope you figure out your troubles.

I just read recently that endometriosis can be triggered by tight, low jeans. This could account for the bad cramping. If you have a really heavy flow this next period, you migth want to talk to your doctor about the possibility you may have endo. Hope you feel better and get this cleared up.

This is an article that discusses the new theory about tight clothes.

if you and your hubby are ttc then why did you take bcp in the first place?

the only thing you can do is take a test or wait until you get one from the doctor. sometimes in the beginning of preganancy you can have signs of a cold and all that you are experiencing. sometimes you can have no symptoms at all. only a test can tell you.

Like all medicines, BCPs have side effects that you need to be aware of. For BCPs, there are rare but serious side effects and minor side effects.

I think you should get medical attention.
Sorry, I can't give you any more advice than that.
