I'm 6 mths pregnant, and my OB told me I should be drinking a liter and a half of water every hour. Doesn't that seem a bit excessive? I already have to pee too much as it is, I don't want to have to camp out in the bathroom. Were any other pregnant ladies told this?

I was told 8 glasses a day. I was struggling to keep up with this as i dont particularly drink much water (before pregnancy). However, i am 17 weeks pregnant with my second and have been experiencing braxton hicks already. A cause for this i researched could have bee dehydration. I developed a strange craving for ice and cold drinks last week and i think it was my bodys way of saying drink more. So i have been, and my braxton hicks pains have diminished to just one a day the last few days so water must be a good thing! Although, i think your doctor may have suggested too excessive an amount. Do what feels is right for you and best of luck x

a liter and a half really isnt that much. imagine a 2 liter bottle of soda... you probably drink a total of that in other liquids throughout the day.

always add at least a drop of lemon to each glass of water you drink, it will keep you from retaining it, and the lemon is also really good for you, so if you can handle more lemon, great.

omg, i just realized you said PER HOUR! that does seem a bit much, maybe you misunderstood. i do know that when you go in for an ultrasound, you are supossed to drink that much water within an hour before you go to it, but other than that, yikes!

Hell no, im nearly 33 wks pregnant and nearly 2litres of water every hour is way excessive. Im no doctor for sure but that sounds totally wrong. Your body can eventually drown in water if drinking too much of it.

I DID get told by my midwife and ob that i should be drinking more water to keep myself hydrated, but she just recommended 8 glasses of water a day (250ml each) which equates to 2 litres for 1 day! Big difference between what my midwife and ob said compared to your doctor.

Get a second opinion from another doctor. That just sounds too weird.

A liter and a half is basically 8 glasses of water, but that's weird he told you to drink it in an hour.

I wasn't told that. I was only told to drink lots of water and keep myself hydrated. I was never told a specific amount. However, according to babycenter.com, you should drink at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. That's how much you should consume when you're not pregnant too, but now that you are, it's that more important!!!!

If you're worried about the sugar as so many people are suggesting then you can always get the Vitamin Water 10 which is naturally sweetened but only has like 3-4g of sugar per serving. But yes, it is totally fine.

You know what.I feel that your body will tell you if it needs more water. That's just me.I am also six months pregnant and I know how it is to have to pee alot so I'm not here to tell you what to do but I would just let your body do the talking. It tells you what it craves so water has to be the same.
