I just read the other answers, and they're all right. I saw a PBS special on Cuba. It is a very poor country. The lucky ones are the ones who can afford to drive any car at all, let alone a newer one. Thank you, Mr. Castro (same is true of North Korea, by the way...thanks, Kim!)......

Cuba was taken over by Fidel and the Communists in the 1950's and the US has had a trade embargo ever since(that's why Cuban Cigars are illegal in US) Being 90 miles away the US was their source for cars and w/o US they haven't gotten new cars since.

the united states has trade blocks set up so they can't get new ones imported. the cars on the island have been there since the cuban revolution. they keep them up pretty well don't you think? they look good for 45 yr old cars.

Because CUBA is isolated, it's a communist nation......Cubans have to risk their life in a boat because they live with so much poberty
