bigotry and intolerance of all kinds is wrong! people often fear what they don't understand, but some of those people choose not to educate themselves, and then that fear will fester into irrational hatred. and that's what starts wars! that's what tears apart families, denies and takes away equal/civil rights, gets people fired from jobs for no legitimate reason, leads to violence/bashing! whether it's because of sexual orientation, race, religion, culture....it's evil! and bigots who raise their children to hate....to me, that is child abuse, because you are socially retarding your child.
I am in a loving, monogamous, committed relationship...and I can't get married. if the bigots/right-wingers/bible-thumpers/"fundies" have their way....churches and government will keep trying to dictate what goes on in everyones bedroom. what 2 consenting, unrelated adults do in private is their own business, and no one else's!

homophobia is a form of prejudice and like hatred of any person for race, religion, gender or even hair colour, it is not healthy to hate nor is it worthy of a civilized person to run down others for that which is beyond their control. Thus homophiobia rates right up there with racism, ageism or sexism. It needs to be educated out of people so they truly understand and appreciate the difference not be intolerant and hatfeful.

Defeat??? Why defeat homophobia???? Why not simply teach respect and dignity for all people, honor and understanding. Teach Tolerance!! homosexuals harm no one! What happens between consenting adults - particularly loving adults - should not be judged by others! Homophobia cannot sustain where love and respect are the priority!
I hope all people will one day let go of thier fears and ignorance- how much more joyful we all will be once we stop concerning ourselves with other people and start working toward our own personal bests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really have no stake in the outcome of the world, but people should just get along with each other. It's just the thing we need to do.

For me, I finally realized that people will follow whatever they choose to be that makes their life a life. They can deny how they feel in their inclination as much as they want. Ultimately they are the ones that really know how they feel. I may accept those who choose to be different than me but I may not agree. That is their choice. This society is far more educated in days of old.

For all the same reasons it's important to defeat racism, sexism, etc.. Irrational prejudice is a definite negative in society.

As a straight 40 year old woman with a straight daughter, i guess I really don't have a "stake". It's just WRONG. Understanding is key.

I am not gay, but i live in a black community, but i don't give out the apperance of a tough guy, so most would assume i am gay. So when i am passing by, i notice a lot of people spitting on the floor. So it's weird? yea but the people that do it are basically no-bodies in society, so it don't really get to me. i guess they accuse me of being "white" or gay....either way, it's somehow related.

My stake in this struggle is to do anything I can to help younger gay people undergo the pain of being different ..of having their friends and families disown them. of loosing their jobs, their dignitiy....of loosing everything because of who they are sexually attracted to....been there...had he breakdown..tried the suicide...Nobody should have to go through that....And that's my stake.

As long as prejudice, fear, and hate exist in the world, we will never know peace. If we truly want a peaceful society, we have to break all stereotypes and provide the truth so people won't have a reason to fear us.
