When you give birth to a baby, hormones stimulate the milk glands in your breasts to produce milk to feed the baby. This is the natural way both people and animals feed their young.

In most western countries babies are usually weaned from the breast after a year or at most two, but in some parts of the world it is normal to breastfeed children until they are five years old. This reduces the chance of the child getting a disease from unsanitary food or drink and helps prevent another pregnancy for the mother.

Breastfeeding helps the mother's body return to its normal pre-pregnancy condition, although the breasts will remain large until breastfeeding stops. It is healthy for both mother and baby, and it is not painful unless the mother gets an infection. Or sometimes when the baby gets teeth and does not yet know not to bite down on the breast.

How old are you?
Firstly, yes, you only breast feed babies. If you breast feed anyone else you need psycological help.
Secondly it means exactly what it says.....you are feeding the baby with your breast milk found in your breast. It is exactly the same as when your pet dog or cat or any other mammal feeds its babies.
