I think Poe's storytelling would make a perfect backdrop. Are there any other works by Poe that should be made into film?

There already is a film version, though it is very obscure. It was made in 1998 and directed by Mario Cavalli. I have to agree with NNY, though--Poe's writing is brilliant but does not translate well to the screen. That's largely because his stories usually involve a lot of internal dialogue (thought) and therefore the films either have to use too much voiceover or skip the voiceover and leave out all that good internal narration.

hmmm... that's my favorite Poe story, but it would take a really good director and casting to pull it off. So much depends on how the guy feels about being insulted, it would be hard to put to film. The movie would have to rely on the suspense created when they're in the wine cellar/catacombs place and most of the people who would go would already know the ending, then it wouldn't work out so well. alas.

all the films based off of Poe's writing have been terrible. Somethings should be left in Verse. Everything by Edgar Allan Poe, should stay in writing, and not be dumbed down in film.

Tough call.

I think it would really depend on who was directing it, and if the screenplay matched Poe's work.

On a side note, I did enjoy the film adaptation of Masque of the Red Death with Vincent Price and Hazel Court.
