The best thing you can do is to look at the people that are running in your area. Find out the names, then do research to find out what each candidate stands for. Vote for whomever you agree with most. Blindly voting democrat or republican is generally a bad idea.

Democrats have pushed that " I'm here to help you folks" for years but that doesn't make it so . Without the poor-they would not have a platform . When things are good-like a great economy now and a "do-er" in the White House , it makes democrats mad as hell .That's why all you see is anger . When they raise your taxes -how is that going to help anything ? Take a look at Clinton's record of helping himself & Hillary and laughing into the camera all the way . These "new" democrats are not the ones our parents & grandparents knew . They cry , yell & slander to try and get their socialist agendas . If even half the American public knew the contributions ending up in the hands of organizations to terrorists ties-like Hillary Clinton when she chaired New World-or the millions Bill Clinton is taking from foreign nations ( middle east included)-half of which goes into Hillary's funds-doesn't that scare you ? That someone could possible end up in the White House who could have possibly got there on money from our enemy ? Just because you are told something too good to be true doesn't make it so . Right now we have a Republican who is determined to keep terrorists on the run ; and whether you know it or not-the numbers show a great economy. Why would you want your taxes raised ? Why would you not want a secure nation ? Why would you vote the way the terrorists want you to ?

Why do you think the Democrats are "the party of the working poor?" Exactly what have they done other than say that?
Unemployment is 4.4%. And no, that doesn't exclude people whose benefits run out - check out the Census Bureau website, you'll see that you-know-which-party has been lying to you about that. http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm
It's too bad you're in the working poor - - most of us started out there. I did.
But the most likely alternative is to be the non-working poor, which you might be if the economy weren't growing, which it is because of the tax cuts, which HAVE paid for themselves.
Now, have "the rich" benefited" Sure. And also, millions of households in the upper middle class have BECOME rich.
I know that stings because it isn't you.
But you need to ask yourself the age-old question - - would you rather be better off than you otherwise would be, even if you knew that your snobby neighbor was a LOT better off? Or would you rather be worse off but satisfied by the knowledge that your snobby neighbor, who would still be a lot richer than you, took a hit to his bank account?
Nobody's going to give you anything. At least not directly. The Dems will "stick it to the rich" but they don't then mail YOU a CHECK.... Not unless you lose your job - in which case the check isn't any bigger under either party, it's a function of how much you've paid in to the system. The GOP will give tax cuts to everyone who pays taxes - small for you but large for your employer and your employer's customers. And tax revenue, if past is in fact prologue, will go UP (it is presently at record levels following the Bush tax cuts and is higher than the CBO projected it would be either with or without the tax cuts).
It's up to you - - maturity or schadenfreude.

That's a good question...remember when you are voting what our country was founded on..not Democrat nor Republican but the christian morals of our founding fathers. Voting for a party just because you think they are for poor people is an arguable reason but I would keep other factors in mind. I think that I would base my vote on who I thought could better do the job they are running for and also there moral standings. Our country seems to be heading the wrong way because the family has been torn apart.

People will tell you that Bill Clinton (a democrat) passed bills that hurt welfare more then any republican did (which is true). There is much more to the parties then poor vs rich & some of the people running have views on things from both sides so it is best to know the person.
If you are going to go strait party then it is best to know in general their thoughts & see which most match your own.
Republicans:
*Think that the big buisness should be given breaks & tax cuts so they will expand their buisnesses and create more jobs.
* While are for the seperation of church & state, they favor God. Prayer, In God We Trust on money, in the pledge of liberty & such things.
* Old Fashion ways of family values so are against Abortion (unless it is rape or incest), gay marriage and things.
* Are for the death penalty & feels it deters crime.
* Are for smaller government, more freedom for the individual states & towns.
* Anti Union (like the teachers union) & for school vouchers.
Democrats:
* Are for big government, thinking that the more the government controls the better off people will be.
* Are anti religon & would have God removed from anything that has to do with the government.
* Are in favor of abortion for any reason.
* Favor taxing richer people more & buisness, thinking that they should take care of the poor.
* Are against the death penalty.
* Are in favor of unions & the public school systems.
* Are for gay marriage.
As I stated before not all of them hold dear all the concepts of their party but that is some of the average party mindsets.

Democrats helping the poor is a misconception -- that is what they want you to think. A democratic president is what enabled corporate factors into going to other countries. Find out what your candidates are supporting and not supporting. Find out what they stand for and how have they have been productive in the past. Study your candidates and try not listening to what other negative opinionated people say that don't know their artz from a whole in the ground. People making opinions are majority of time extremely one sided -- research and decide for yourself. Many people, if you'll notice, repeat what is said on TV.

So because you live in poverty, you want the government to "support" you? If you really think the government should support the poor then you should vote for the democrats.
I personally believe that people should support themselves. I am a republican and believe in personal responsibility.

Do you think of yourself as a victim?
If you do, you should vote Democrat because they believe we are all victims of some sort or another, and in need of gov't assistance. White middle aged males excluded of course.
If you think of yourself as the master of your own destiny, you should vote Republican. True, Republicans take gov't handouts too, but they don't think they should be entitled to them.
Let me put it to you another way. Democrats measure their success by how many they are helping with welfare programs. Republicans measure their success by how many people don't need them.
Patrick also gave an awesome answer and I vote he gets the 10 points.

Vote for those that support the ideals you believe in. If fighting for the working poor is important to you, then vote for those that care as well.
People will try to distract you with stem cell research and abortion and gay rights, but if that's not at the top of your list, then keep focused on what is.
