I am 28 weeks pregnant and as I was lying in bed last night I got this tight feeling in the right side of my stomach.. and a sharp pain. it only lasted for about 15-20 seconds but i was wondering if this could have been a contraction.?

no clue, i'm 26 weeks along and just a couple of days ago I had a really sharp pain like that while I was laying down too...it lasted less than a minute and there weren't any more, so i wasn't too concerned about it.

If anything I'd assume it's a "braxton-hicks" contraction, the ones that aren't really contractions, but are...from the sounds of things you and I have a number of these ahead of us, so grab a heating pad or hot water bottle and get ready!

Most probably it was a Braxton Hicks (mock contraction). Its just your uterus doing rehearsal contractions and getting ready for the birth. It can start as early as 26 wks. You also get stacks of cramps and this can depend also on where the baby is laying. Sometimes the baby is laying on a nerve or in an awkward position.

Im still going through all of it and nearly 33 wks. Sometimes your tummy can also go hard because of the braxton hicks and/or you can get pins and needle sensations around your tummy as well.

Dont worry its all normal.

Contractions are more like a menstrual cramp only way worse. Same with "Braxton Hicks" which are false labour contractions that you get usually in your last tri-mester. It is your body's way of getting ready for labour. You are going to start feeling lots of aches and pains that are unusual to you. Good luck with the birth of your baby.

Those could be Braxton Hicks contractions.

Babies move, bodies adjust. It was not a true contraction. Contractions are timeable. You will know the real thing. Rest relax and enjoy

If a pattern doesn't develop, then it was either gas or braxton hicks. Call your doctor if you still have doubts.

it could be or it could be gas, your baby could be blocking something and putting pressure on your intestines. with my first pregnancy, it always hurt on my right side all of a sudden when i ate gassy foods. usually your first contrations dont hurt though.

Could have just been the baby laying on something, you never know though I guess :-)
