This is one of the better questions lately. It is still hard to answer because everyone have their own choice.Once again good question.
My choice is Junior Johnson and his work to secure Winston as series sponsor.

Richard Petty set the standard for drivers in stock car racing. He made himself available to the fans and the media for autographs and interviews like no other driver and helped bring major corporations on board as team sponsors. Fan accessibility to the drivers is one area where Nascar has made a bigger impact than most other racing series. Just try to get an autograph from Michael Schumacher.

I think that Jeff Gordon or Richard Petty or even Dale Earnhardt Sr. I think Gordon because he wasn't around racing and he just loved to race and raced constantly as a kid and did whatever it took to make it to NASCAR and he worked for everything that he got and he deserves every bit of it and he has one of the best manufacturers out there, and he has some of the best technology and resources out there. He worked his way up and is one of the best drivers around so anyone who doesn't know that just needs to. Richard Petty is the King of NASCAR so I don't even have to explain that one. Dale Earnhardt Sr. grew up around his dad racing along with Richard Petty, and that gave them a great advantage but it was also their honor and respect for the drivers and their teams, and for themselves. I also think that they had a trumendous amount of respect for the sport itself and they loved to race and did whatever it took to be the best and both Petty and Earnhardt Sr. are considered one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time if not the greatest.

Lee Petty and a son named Richard Petty. At the 'birth' of NASCAR until his accident in 1961, Lee started and put in place what would become a 'dynasty' in NASCAR. Richard Petty took what his father Lee had started and enlarged it to become one of the most dominant and long lasting teams ever to run in NASCAR. Richard Petty and Petty Enterprises was certainly a force to be reckoned with from 1959 to 1984. While Kyle Petty's career has been mixed, unfortunately, we will never know what Adam Petty would have been capable of.
