Keep yourself updated on a daily basis through your bank's automated account services. Most banks have your money insured for up to $100,000 and if it's a national bank you shouldn't have trouble.

Start the trail of the money you gave them from the beginning,
copy of check, receipt for the cash, dates, times, etc.
