Here are some ideas for you. (I've used some myself.) Hope they help.
You have WAY too much to work to do!
Housework or homework (depends on if you're in school) or maybe you promised to babysit for someone.
A close relative who lives far away is rather depressed and you absolutely have to talk to him/her to try to her/him feel better.
You already promised to do something with someone else, another friend or family member, and you can't get out of it tonight.
You have an awful migraine and need to go to sleep.
Hope you find a good reason. At any rate, stay home and get some rest like you need to!
And remember, give minimal details. You don't need to get wrapped up in a huge lie over an excuse. Tell what you need to and what she asks, and try to keep as much truth in it as possible. Good luck.

Excuses are nothing more than a lie.
Here is the best response hope it is not to painful. Ask her if there is a matinee, often plays run several nights. Ask her to watch it the first time and if she really enjoys it you go for the next showing (example Sunday showing). Tell her that this week has been hectic and you love to go but wow I over did my gender this week. Tell her you are sincere about wanting to be with her and egger to know how the play is. The next day interview her about the play and ask for a play book. It is important not to be distracted and to listen and take long pause before responding or commenting. This way she knows you really care about her and you find out even more if the play was any good. Than if she like it set up the rain date.

What better excuse than the truth? Don't feel compelled to do something that you don't really want to do just because a friend asked you. Tell her that you don't want to go because you don't feel like it and leave it at that. It shouldn't be anything that tears the friendship apart so don't bother with made-up, bogus excuses.

Well, wash your hair and wet set it to air dry. Then you will not be lying when you tell that you cannot go. It takes a few hours for wet set hair to dry and besides you may not have a hair dryer either so it would take twice as long. Or you could get into a long cooking process like baking cookies for a bake sell etc. Personally, I'd tell her the truth.

Tell her that you really dont like plays and it is going to put you to sleep anyway since you don't normally stay up until 11:00

Tell her that you have had a bad day and really don't feel good, I'm sure if she is a true friend she will understand.

doesn't being a friend mean that, sometimes we do things we dont love because our friend does. I bet she'd do it for you. Stop making excuses and go spend time with your friend.

Your parents won't let you because they caught you talking to a 51-year-old man on the internet.
