I will so delighted to answer your request! I have smoked since I was very young and now I am in my sixtys and I never thought that I could go without smoking too. I tried the patch; Inhaler, accupunture; Gum; I quit for 38 days about 2 years ago but I found an excuse to go back to smoking again and I had made a promise to God and it made me feel so guilty. I did not try again until Sept 6th of this year and after going without a cigarette for 4 days I found myself calm and surprised at myself. I haven`t smoked a cigarette since and its been 2 months...I was a chain smoker and smoked for over 50 years. Do it with hard candys and regular gum because I believe the nicotine patch and ihaler and eta are just teasers! Drink alot of juice and water and chew on carrot sticks...I find it also a close friend came down with Lung Cancer March 3, 2006 and had 1/2 of rt lung removed that made me start thinking also....Just remember you can do it!!!

Well Im a non smoker, but it doesn't really worry me if people smoke. I mean I'm not really around many smokers, so I guess I don't have to put up with as much as some people might. But I think there's enough out there, for people to clearly get the message on what smoking does to their bodies. And if they're not thankful enough for the gift of life or to look after their own body, then for all I care, let them smoke. We're an overpopulated planet anyway :\

I'm am on day three of quitting, it hasn't been easy but I'm hanging in there. About a month ago I went to hypnosis, which at some level I think has helped. I start the patch 3 days ago, it seems to be relieving the withdrawal. I have also started an on line journal for all of my friends to read, to keep myself accountable. So far so good!! Good luck to you!! I know it will not work until you really want it to.

My grandma smoked for 60 years and she quit with the patch at the age of 80.
I quit cold turkey. It was incredibly hard, especially when people around you smoke. However, each day I wake up and make the choice not to smoke. Don't let people tell you it's going to get easier because 10 months after quitting, I still want to smoke. But I tell myself that I am healthier, my kids are healthier and I am going to live longer.
The only thing that will make you quit is you. Just as you chose to wake up every day and smoke, make the choice to wake up and not smoke.

I have seen my whole family and a few of my friend quit with the patch. I just don't want to quit. i know i should but i keep saying, once my stess goes away. Good luck to you. American Red Cross has a smoking cessation group too, they help with support groups and getting supplies like patches and gums and what not.

first of all, i believe you HAVE to have the desire to quit. i mean to the point where you have decided nothing is going to stop you from quitting smoking. what i did was every time i had an urge for a cigarette, i would "smoke" a carrot i had cut. i held it like a cigarette in my hand and by the time i was through chewing the carrot, i didn't feel as though i needed a cigarette. just keep it up and before long, you won't want to smoke anymore. good luck

Try picking up the book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Alan Carr. Didn't work for me the first time but I know someone who had complete success with it. I think you still have to be ready in your mind to quit. I am presently re-reading it and am going to give it another shot. Good luck to you - it is the hardest thing to do but it is still best to keep trying!

If you change your life-style its easy to quit. Make a rule no smoking in the house, you HAVE to go outside no matter what. If you stay in the house more and stick to the rule it should start helping you. I quit a little at a time, smoking less and less every few months until I quit completely.
