Two year olds are picky and above all esle stubborn. Sometimes all they want is bacon. Some times all they want are breads, my daughter was on a biscut kick for a while. As long as what they're eating is mostly balanced such as strained foods and flake cereal let them have it. Offer other foods from time to time, maybe boiled carrots would be a good place to start. In time if you offer the foods and don't force the foods then the toddler in question will most likely come around and eat a larger variety. If you're really concerned you can have the parents ask their pediatrician at his next appointment.

I don't know if it is a serious thing or not. How unusual is it for my 2 year old to only eat popsicles and pretzels? Cause that is what he does. I would be sure to see a doctor, because of malnutrition reasons. Maybe he has a stomach problem and is scared to eat food that is hard to digest. Toddlers are pretty smart, maybe it is an instinctive thing. I give my two year old a flinstone vitamin everyday plus he goes through fazes of eating only certain things for weeks at a time. I just thought it was normal.

He might have a sensitive palate, or even a swallowing issue. You might want to consider that first. If that is not the case you might try offering small amounts of finger foods, in small managable bite sizes. Encourage him by eating with him, and making it a social thing. Don't leave him alone in a high chair to fend for himself, interact with him while his eating. It's not unusual for children to select down their diet, but it certainly is not healthy. Many two- four year olds get by on only chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese, but eventually with effort and variety they move on to a more suitable diet. Offer him a wide variety of foods, and occasionally offer him food from your plate just to give him an idea of what everbody else is eating. It can be a struggle, but stick with it. Yes, if you force him he will probably eat. Yes, if you don't offer him anything else he will probably hold out until he is too hungry to refuse, but everyone will be miserable especially him. Good Luck...

He should be on solid foods. Shouldve been about a year a go. Try just slowly weening him off of strained food and giving him more solid foods. Eventually he'll get hungry and will eat it.

I consider toomanycookies (that's a customary!). i think of no-one's tried to inspire him to eat real nutrition. Time to do away with the child nutrition altogether. furnish him a great form of real ingredients - the comparable stuff older young ones eat, merely chopped up smaller. you should furnish a new child something new approximately 8 - 10 circumstances until now they start getting used to it. 2-year-olds ought to be eating a great form of ingredients with self belief, inclusive of the comparable dinner the grown-united stateseat, merely arranged for a new child.

He should have been eating solids a year ago.
He needs to be off the strained food. Remember, he can't have what you don't offer him. Just put a plate of solid food in front of him and eventually he'll get hungry and eat.
