If this is a serious question, I will give you the real answer...

When the sport was "created" it was called "American football" because the sport of the world at that time was "football" (what is called soccer in the US).

Over time, soccer became a little known sport in the US, and the "American" became unnecessary, hence American football became football.

The term soccer comes from the "Football Association"... at one time, football split into two sports: what we call soccer, and rugby. The Football Association endorsed regular football, so those who played football became "soccers" from "asSOCiation" and those who played rugby became "ruggers"

Best of luck!

Because you use your foot to kick it a number of times. You kick it for field goals and you kick it to the other team after you score or decide to turn the ball over after a 3rd down. Football refers to soccer in most other nations besides the United States. So many other nations refer to what we call just football her in the US as American Football.

Well I think it's silly, and American's should make up their own name for their sport. (Don't think I hate american's, because I used to live there!)
