Why did Nickleback write "far away"?

my girlfriend needs this for a school project and nowhere else has the answer.

i don't know for sure but I think its about like having a person you love to death and how you think they're dead and how much you regret things you did and or said to them. Like i said i'm not sure but thats what i get from it. :) goodluck
