You asked...
It's not ok at all to pierce a baby's ears. There is absolutely no good reason to mutilate a child's ears. My older daughter is 17. She just got her ears pierced a couple of years ago. I wouldn't have let her do it before I felt she was ready to take care of them properly on her own.
Let your child decide when she is much older (far from babyhood) whether to have her ears pierced. There really is no good reason to pierce a baby's ears.
Like I said... you asked.

It's okay to have a babies ears pierced when they are about a month old. It's better to wait for a couple of months though, that way the baby's immune system is better able to fight off any infection that may occur. Most people wait until 3 months.

We pierced our daughter's ears when she was 4 months old. Many do it earlier... but I'd at least wait til she's 2 months.
Its much easier when they are little because they will be too scared when they get bigger. Request that they do both ears at the same time... this helped out so much.

Well...I peirced my daughter's ears (not personally...LOL) when she was 9 months old. I would wait at leat until 6 months. The reason I say that is b/c your baby is more aware of its body and could in some ways relate to you if they are experiencing pain due to the piercing. Plus their body can fight off infections (should they occur) more efficiently. It's your call but just take it all into consideration!

We got our daughters done at 8 weeks. She cried for about 2 mins then smiled i put her in her stoller and she drifted off to sleep. I cried as well. Some hospitals will pierce there ears if you want them to be done at birth before leaving the hospital.
The reason for me doing our daughters at a young age is. I had mine done at 5 years old and they did them one at a time. It took my mother and her friend to pry my hand off my other ear once they did the first one. And i cried for over an hour. Do i think it was more drama than pain YES!
Sooner or later most girls will want them done and if they chose not to want them done its as simple as taking them out.

I read recently that it is ok after the baby gets her second tetanus shot which should be around 4 months. Ask your pediatrician - many will actually do the piercings in the office. I got my daughters ears done just before her first birthday. She did fine with it; she didn't even fight me on cleaning them daily.

You can do it as soon as you want. I asked my Dr when my daughter was 3 mos, and he said ok. I got lazy and didn't do it until 1 year, and it was too late! She was aware of her ears, and pulled them constantly, and kept losing the earrings. If you do it when a baby is smaller, they aren't as coordianted to know to grab their ear and pull the earring out, therefore the holes will actually be in good before they start playing with their ears. Ask your dr to be safe and sure though!!

i had my daughters done when she was 3.5 weeks old. she tells me all the time she is glad that I did it when she was a baby because she is to afraid to have them done now when she is older. at that young of an age they do not know that the earings are there and they do not play with them causing additional trauma to the ears.

I dunno when the best time is cause so many people have different opinions on it. Some say wait till the kids can say they want it done and others say the younger the better. I have been thinking of piercing my daughters ears when she is a year old which will be in December. So I think it all depends on your own judgement and your own opinion.

people do it all the time..but I think it's better to wait until they are older and give them the choice of getting them pierced. My mom did this and I am glad because I didn't want them pierced until I got to middle school. Just my opinion
