I have used baking soda and that doesn't work.
The smell of my big plants is sickening when you get up to them. What do I do besides throw them out? They are big and beautiful.

pklease don't use clorox...horrible for the plant and may kill it.....buy some Consan or Triple Action X.....both act like clorox but won't hurt plants.....or just buy a good fungicide at the nursery and do a soil drench using the right amount of fungicide in the drench.....

Try misting some diluted bleach on the areas that have the strongest odor. They do make a bleach cleaner that is safe to use on organics straight from the bottle, but the brand escapes me. It may be a Clorox product. It sounds like you have a bit of a drainage problem in your plant's pots. You probably have water that is standing in place too long and that is probably why you are having a mold problem. Fix that and you will solve future mold smell issues.

The smell is in the soil. Use Fresh potting soil to repot, after first washing the roots off under fresh running water. This will remove the moldy smell. Do not overwater in the future.

It is not your plants - it is the soil. Get fresh, sterilized indoor potting soil and have a day of repotting. Once you have done that, take care not to over water as this may have been the cause.

I have to agree with Barbados, change the potting mix as it has become smelly from being too wet over a period of time.
I suggest you only water when the potting medium feels dry to touch.
Potting mixes like soil will become anaerobic(Sour) after a long period of being wet.
