Is there a trick to installing it, how does it go on and how do I take the old stuff down? I have yet to take the old stuff down and just thought I'd see what I'm getting myself into first. The old stuff is ratty and I'm trying to sell my home.

It really depends on what kind of w/s you have exsisting. If you have a "newer" style prehung unit, it will have what is called kerfed weather stripping. This product simply pushes into a slot cut in the door stop. To remove it, use a putty knife, butterknife, or something simular. insert it between the w/s and the stop and pry the w/s out far enough down the stop to get a grip on it with your whole hand. Pull it out. Repeat on remainder. Don`t just try to pull it out , you`ll rip it. Replacement can be purchased @ HD or Lowes. Take note how the old came out, it can be installed backwards. If you have an older door unit, the afore mentioned stores also carry screw on w/s that is relatively simple to install and also has some adjustment should you find you`ve installed it too loose or too tight. You simply cut it to length and screw it on. Works easier if you have portable drill. If by some freak of nature you find that your door stops are removable, these people also have a wooden stop with a rubber bulb incorporated to it that really updates an older wood door system. If you`re selling your house, these products look so much better than a piece of "stick on" foam GOOD LUCK!!!!

If it's the weather strip around the door, the best I ever found is made by 3M..cost about $5. Ace hardware sells their own brand. It's a plastic roll about 1 inch wide ,folds down the middle and is self adhesive, cut with a razor

Use a screwdriver to remove the old stuff. Measure the dimensions of the frame and cut the new stuff to fit. Either glue or nail in the new stripping and you should be all set.
